Welcome to the Theses Subject Guide

This guide is a starting point for

finding theses from NSCAD and around the world, and
submitting your NSCAD Master's thesis to the NSCAD Library once it has been defended and accepted.

What is a thesis?

A thesis (plural: theses) is the generic term for a long essay or work on a specific subject involving personal research written by a candidate for a degree. The term dissertation is sometimes used (most commonly in North America) to distinguish between a master’s thesis and a doctoral dissertation.

Theses and dissertations are valuable sources of highly specialized information - information that is not indexed in most commercial databases or available through search engines.

A collection of digitized Master of Art Education, Master of Design, and Master of Fine Art theses and artist statements from 1975 to present. Theses are added to this collection as permission is granted, pending author approval.

NSCAD Library Thesis Non-Exclusive Licence Agreement
A non-exclusive license grants NSCAD Library the right to publish your thesis online. This license does not affect the ownership of copyright — you maintain whatever rights you have in your thesis. In addition, the license does not contain a waiver of your moral rights to your thesis.
