Welcome to the NSCAD Visual Resources Collection! Here you will find information on how to use our online digital image resources, film, video, audio, and other special collections located on-campus. We have NSCAD's special collection of artist and rare books, a vast exhibition catalogue collection, and circulating DVDs. The NSCAD Library also provides access high quality image databases for education, research, and presentation including ARTstor, and FADIS, an image resource provided to Canadian education institutions. Our aim is to assist with all the aspects of media and image use. The NSCAD Visual Resources Collection (VRC) was initiated to support the teaching of NSCAD's art history department more than 30 years ago, and over the years has extended to serve the wider scope of NSCAD's community.
I need to find images:
I need to find a DVD:
I want to browse the audio archives
While most of the collections in the VRC can be searched in the catalogue, some items are not, so if you wish to make an inquiry, please contact ryoung@nscad.ca
Faculty and instructors may reserve DVDs and other materials for courses by sending requests to reserves@nscad.ca . Please let us know a few weeks in advance, and we will put them aside for your students to use, and will ensure that they are available when you need them.
To make a request for us to purchase new DVDs or other materials, please allow at least two weeks from the time you make the request, and we will try to source the items.
*Please note that all NEW DVDs are now entered into the Novanet catalogue.

First check for the video you are looking for in NSCAD's Novanet Library Catalogue. If you cannot find the title then check this spreadsheet. The majority of our DVD's are catalogued in Novanet, however we have some older titles that are on this spreadsheet, and are in the process of being catalogued.
